August Schell Brewing Company is a family owned and operated brewery in New Ulm, Minnesota. We began in 1860 when August Schell, a German immigrant, couldn’t find a traditional German beer in his new home. So, he made his own.

While the brewery has seen some changes, like plumbing, August’s legacy of being an innovative brewmaster remains. It has continued through six generations and over 100 variety of German Craft beer. Schell’s Brewery has a great opportunity for an individual to join our team as a Graphic Designer.

Summary

Under the direction of the Marketing Manager, the Graphic Designer designs and produces high quality artwork, signage, point of sale materials for the market, and other miscellaneous graphic requests for the company in the desired time frame, in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Partner with our local distributor sales manager and customers to design and print signage for the route.

  • Conceptualize, design, layout and produce digital and print designs, point of sale displays, and promotional material. Develop graphics and layouts for logos, website, and products.

  • Ensure high quality, professional designs. Design detailed or technical illustrations, mock ups, animations (as needed) using computer software.

  • Provide photography and video services and operate related equipment.

  • Operate and uphold a working knowledge of the maintenance practices for our latex print and cut solution.

  • Maintain technical competency by researching new technology and changes in the industry.

  • Interact with vendors to ensure best prices and quality of materials and effectively resolve problems.

  • Review proofs and final layouts to ensure quality output.

  • Estimate costs of different production methods to determine the most economical method for individual projects.

  • Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, and files.

  • Complete special projects as assigned.

  • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.

Education and/or Experience

Requires a Bachelor's degree in a job related major and three to five years related experience; or a combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills

Experience using computer systems such as Adobe Creative Suite, CAD, desktop publishing, graphics and photo imaging, video creation, and Wordpress.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret instructions, communicate information and ideas in writing using correct grammar and rules of composition, listen and understand information and ideas presented in written and spoken forms. Ability to communicate effectively with vendors and employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to analyze information/instructions, evaluate results, and choose the best solution. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
