Assistant Brewer/Distiller: Bent Brewstillery

  • Complete all processes safely and efficiently with high quality. This includes milling, mashing, lautering (and graining-out!), boiling, cooling and transferring to the correct fermenter

  • Control of inventory supply of consumables

  • Proper use and care of cleaning chemicals

  • Work with brewer to maintain barrel maintenance program

  • Maintain cleanliness of both hot and cold-sides of brewing

Cellar and Packaging:

  • Pitching of yeast, managing and logging fermentation

  • Monitor gravities, temperatures and carbonation levels of fermenting and finished beer

  • Dry-hopping beer

  • Kegging and canning of product

  • Complete all required paperwork in a timely manner

  • Follow SOP for cleaning of brew house, fermenters, kegging and canning devices

  • Inventory supply of packaging consumables


  • Assist in all production aspects, including mashing, fermenting, transfering and distilling spirits, as well as bottling, labeling, and packaging finished products

  • Assist in lab analysis, sample cataloging, and track compliance data for all distilled spirits produced on site

  • Assist in filling, weighing, gauging, labeling, and placement of barrels

Miscellaneous duties:

  • Represent the brewstillery at occasional beer events

  • Maintain weekly inventory of beer sold and/or consumed in taproom

  • Weekly cleaning and organizing beer dunnage

  • Assists in staff education and sensory evaluation

  • Discusses any and all brewery issues with head brewer/distiller

  • Read brewing/distilling periodicals to keep up with technology


  • Must be capable of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and completing repetitive motions.

  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time.

  • Must be able to lift and move 55 lbs (grain sacks) repetitiously and 160 lbs for very short distances (kegs).

Education Requirements:

  • High school or equivalent, or higher education (preferred)

  • Education pertaining to chemistry and/or microbiology is a plus

  • Minimum of 1 - 3 years of brewing and/or distillation experience

  • Proven ability to work with little to no supervision and be able to follow directions precisely
