Diversity Brewer Internship: Little Thistle Brewing Co.
Little Thistle Brewing Company is pleased to announce our Diversity Brewer Internship program. This internship will provide new brewers from nontraditional backgrounds with an opportunity to gain entry into the brewing industry, and training in brewing skills and experience. Little Thistle Brewing Company operates a 10-barrel brewery and a 200-seat taproom in Rochester, MN. The focus of the internship is on beer production for taproom sales and limited distribution to local restaurants. Learn the day-to-day operations in the brewery and taproom including beer production, taproom operations, beer service, and sales/marketing for the taproom model.
The Little Thistle Brewing Company Diversity Brewer Internship program is designed for people from diverse backgrounds presently underrepresented in the brewing industry (examples include women, racial/ethnic/religious minorities, people with disabilities, first generation Americans, LGBTQ, etc.) who seek a career in brewing or would like to learn if the brewing industry is a career path for them. Interns must be authorized to work in the United States.
Interns will be selected on the basis of their past work and experience (related or unrelated to the brewing industry), their knowledge of beer and brewing, their aptitude for a career in brewing, their work ethic and their interest in brewing as a career. Brewing beer requires many skills – creativity, microbiology, attention to detail, sanitation, mechanics, etc. – experience or past work in many different areas will be taken under consideration. This internship would give the recipient experience and knowledge - add it to a resume or pursue further educational endeavors.
The internship program runs for 12 weeks over the summer months working part-time at 20 hours a week up to full-time at 40 hours per week (these are flexible terms based on capacity), depending on the intern’s scheduling needs. All weeks must be completed contiguously to learn hands-on skills in the brewery and practice those skills with work assignments. Interns shall be compensated at $12.00/hour, paid biweekly.
Submit a copy of the Diversity Brewer Internship Application and a cover letter detailing your qualifications and interest for the internship program as outlined above. Completed application materials may be submitted on or before June 1, 2019 to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line: Diversity Internship.
