Have a passion for social media and the craft lifestyle? Gray Duck Media, an independent publishing company based in St. Paul, Minnesota, dedicated to producing such high-quality events as The Beer Dabbler and publications like The Growler Magazine and Twin Cities Pride Magazine, is looking for a creative, fun, energetic, craft-minded individual to fill the role of Social Media Coordinator.

This role will be responsible for establishing and executing overarching social media strategy for Gray Duck Media’s properties, such as The Growler Magazine and for The Beer Dabbler, and serving as the day-to-day community manager. The social media coordinator reports to the editor-in-chief and the events director.

Job Duties

Your work as Social Media Coordinator would include:

  • Collaborating with editorial, sales, and events staff to establish and execute The Growler and The Beer Dabbler’s overarching social media strategy across multiple platforms

  • Writing social copy and editing copy from coworkers for social media posts

  • Engaging with followers while continuing and progressing the social presence of The Growler and The Beer Dabbler on multiple platforms, and serving as the day-to-day community manager

  • Establishing, tracking, and reporting social media metrics to inform strategy

  • Staying current on web and social media best practices and emerging trends, and making recommendations to editorial staff accordingly

  • Working all company events in capacities that will extend beyond social media

  • Contributing and publishing content to and using Wordpress and Shopify content management systems

  • Regularly attending previews, releases, and similar events on behalf of The Growler and The Beer Dabbler

  • Creating and disseminating e-newsletters

  • Managing The Growler’s events calendar

  • Managing website projects and other digital projects, as assigned

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to create and execute strategic marketing plans

  • Ability to analyze metrics of social media campaigns to inform future strategy

  • Proficiency with Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Lightroom, and Bridge

  • Writing samples and/or past social media work examples

  • Strong proofreading skills

  • Ability to complete a writing test

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekend and evening hours

Preferred Skills

  • 2+ years experience working in social media or marketing

  • HTML, CSS, and website development

  • Graphic design skills
